Curtis is the daughter Carmencita Ojales, a Filipina native to Bolinao Pangasinan, and James Ernest Curtis Smith, an Australian attorney. She was born at Yarrawonga located in Victoria, Australia. Her father was married to Ojales at the age of 22 in 1982. Jasmine is her sister who performs as an actress. Clare is an aunty of them on the day of father's death. Clare passed away at 4 months in 2007 from a cardio-vascular disease.
